What makes Stone Bridge Flour different?

Stone Bridge Flour is milled from Ontario-grown grains that are stone milled in small batches on our family farm near Ripley, Ontario. Our flour is milled fresh and retains the bran, germ and endosperm for exceptional flavour and nutrition. Using traditional methods of milling grains with a New American Stone Mill, we keep all the nutrients in tack. Keeping the grain and flour cool means the nutrients and flavour remain in the freshly milled flour for you to enjoy!

Is stone-milled flour healthier?

Stone-milled flour retains more of the grain's natural components because the entire wheat seed is milled together, incorporating the endosperm, germ and bran. Unlike many commercial flours, our flour does not require enrichment because the natural nutrients and flavour remain in the flour.

Is your flour bleached or enriched?

Accepted Answer

No. Stone milled flour is all natural. 
Nothing is added. Only coarse bran sifted out. Therefore, all the natural vitamins, minerals, oils and flavour remain. Folic acid free.

Can I substitute Stone Bridge Flour in my favourite recipes?

Yes. Our flour can be substituted for the flour you currently use. Some recipes may require minor adjustments to liquid levels for best results.

How long does your flour stay fresh?

When stored properly, in an airtight container in a cool, dark pantry, flour can be stored up to 9 months and even longer in the fridge or freezer-up to a year.

Buckwheat flour is a nutrient-dense, naturally gluten-free flour milled from the seeds of the buckwheat plant. Despite its name, buckwheat is not related to wheat. Known for its robust, earthy flavor, it is enjoyed in both sweet and savory baking for its ability to add hearty depth, moisture, and a dark colour.

What does it mean to be a certified sustainable farm?

To make our farm more sustainable, we focus on building soil health, reducing inputs, and conserving water. Key methods include rotating crops to restore nutrients, planting cover crops to prevent erosion, minimizing soil disturbance through low and no-till farming, and using precision agriculture technologies to optimize resource use. 
Also to note that all wheat in Canada is non-GMO. Because there is no commercial GMO wheat, any wheat flour or wheat-based product you buy in Canada is non-GMO by default.
